But in this African country, death metal is thriving thanks to bands like Overthrust. Formed in 2008, Overthrust has become one of the country’s leading acts. Their fans include priests, pastors and diehard young head bangers. Now they’re headlining a festival that has attracted death metal bands from across Africa, proving to the rest of the world that Botswana can thrash as good as anywhere.
