The song 'Mraya' is from the 1997 compilation album 'African Angels' by Algerian singer Abdel Ali Slimani. The song is from his own album 'Mraya'. He was born in the U Anasser District of Algiers. His musical influences included traditional Saharan and Berber dances, Western funk, reggae and traditional Arab music. The explosion of Rai music headed by Khaled happened while he was still a teen. In the late 1980's he relocated to the UK playing Rai at weddings and parties within the North African community. In 1991 a meeting with Jah Wobble led to him being the new singer for his Invaders of the Heart Band. Before long he was singing on stage at a WOMAD festival in Toronto, Canada. He also became the first Arab singer to appear on the venerable British Top of The Pops TV show.
