Based in Alexandria, Egypt, SkateImpact was founded in 2005 by skaters for skaters. At the time, it was near impossible to be a skateboarder in Egypt—the region suffered from a severe lack of boards—and SkateImpact opened as the first skate shop in the country, single-handedly filling the demand. Since its inception, it has become Egypt's number one skateboarding hub, has helped evolve skate culture from sport to art form and sponsors some of the best skaters in the world. SkateImpact, and its skaters, embrace the punk rock ethic and have partnered with the searing sound of Saturday Saints in the United States to produce a music video for their song "Crash," from their debut album on Rhyme & Reason Records. Directed by filmmaker and sponsored skateboarder, Yassin Koptan, the video is a cornucopia of reckless hijinks and madcap skate stunts inspired by the song’s lyrics and vibe, which is all captured in dazzling fashion by Koptan and his team of droogs. While these two groups of skaters and musicians exist on opposite sides of the world, their shared spirit brings them together, proving that skateboarding and distortion-driven rock are two sides of the same flippin’ coin.
