Paru en 1981, "Si Bou Odja" est le deuxième album studio de l'Orchestra Baobab réalisé au  Golden Baobab de Dakar par le jeune producteur Ibrahima Sylla. Après leur chef d'œuvre "Mouhamadou Bamba" enregistré la même année "Si Bou Odja" allait marquer une nouvelle fois l'histoire des musiques sénégalaises en propulsant le succès du groupe dans une nouvelle décennie musicale. 
Sous la direction du percutant saxophoniste Issa Sissokho et de l'inamovible guitariste Barthélémy Attiso, c'est notamment le jeune chanteur future icône de la salsa sénégalaise Médoune Diallo qui livrera un de ses chefs d'oeuvres avec l'irrésistible « Autorail », chanson locomotive qui célèbre l'ouverture de la ligne de chemin de fer reliant Dakar à Niamey. Le Baobab symbolisant à la fois l'enracinement dans les valeurs traditionnelles sénégalaises et la capacité de l'arbre à atteindre des sommets, le son du groupe est un parfait syncrétisme des imaginaires sénégalais et afro-cubains dans lequel les montunos de guitares électriques et les improvisations vocales en langue wolof se marient subtilement aux rythmes de "son" cubain et autres boleros.

Released in 1981, "Si Bou Odja" is Orchestra Baobab's second studio album produced at the Golden Baobab in Dakar by the young producer Ibrahima Sylla. After their masterpiece "Mouhamadou Bamba" recorded the same year, "Si Bou Odja" would once again mark the history of Senegalese music by propelling the group's success into a new musical decade.
Under the direction of the hard-hitting saxophonist Issa Sissokho and the irremovable guitarist Barthélémy Attiso, it is notably the young singer future icon of Senegalese salsa Médoune Diallo who will deliver one of his masterpieces with the irresistible "Autorail", song locomotive which celebrates the opening of the railway line connecting Dakar to Niamey. The Baobab symbolizing both rooting in traditional Senegalese values and the tree's ability to reach new heights, the group's sound is a perfect syncretism of Senegalese and Afro-Cuban imaginaries in which the montunos of electric guitars and the Vocal improvisations in the Wolof language subtly blend with the rhythms of Son cubano and other boleros.
