Yamäya’s brand new track ‘Senegal, is a song of appreciation, that extols the virtues of Senegal, Gambia, and Africa as a whole. In the Senegalese language of Wolof, Khadim Sarr sings out his love for his home country, and his heartfelt wish to welcome everyone to Senegal. His powerful, emotive vocals float over syncopated Senegalese-inspired grooves and are intertwined with melodies and solos from Yamäya's five-piece heavyweight horn section.
Yamäya are a heavy-weight London and Brighton based band whose influences are drawn from Afrobeat, Griots the Ethiopiques, and Wolof, with hints of dub, hip hop and jazz, plus. We're putting out three singles with them over the next 2 months, before releasing their album 'Senegal' on March 24th, featuring the engaging vocals of Senegalese singer Khadim Sarr.
