KENYAN MORNING GOSPEL MIX -LINUS KIPAJI

Because of you, Morning Gospel is the most listened mix in East Africa. Thankful the music continues blessing many. However, what's interesting is the story I am about to tell you.
Of how the music landed on youtube by accident.
It's 3:30 AM a year ago and I am just up.
On a typical day, early dawn is my favorite hour. See! At this hour even the devil is asleep.
And its one reason If you check my social media my most reflective posts are posted 3-5 AM
But nothing was typical today.
A tug in the tummy. Linus was fearful.
In a few hours, I was driving many miles to visit my moms in hospital.
Generally, hospitals make me nauseous but that was not all.
There was one more reason for the sadness.
Whenever a loved one is ill, the imagination of them lying in pain gives me a tug in the tummy.
I therefore desperately needed to lift up my moods. And I only know one way how.
I fired laptop, connected equipment and began praying.
The pray worship experience was mixing gospel music and singing along to the output in my earphones.
The song choice was not random. I instinctively played the songs that fit in the story. See I was creating a narrative here.The story was “all shall be well “
I lost myself in the music.
My emotional train changed gears as I went higher in the mix.
One hour latter I hit stop record.
I had arrived at the presence of God.
Turbocharged.
Blessed.
I named the mix Morning Gospel mix.
I uploaded it to a USB Stick and I listened to the mix in the car many times over in the 6-hour drive to see my moms.
On Monday morning I Played it at the morning session on my DJ duty at Nation media house.The reception was exciting.The mix generated a conflict as some ladies wanted nothing else but the mix playing all day
NOT A TYPICAL MIX …
I uploaded it on youtube.Raw.Unedited.
However, Unlike all my other uploads the mix was different in one key way.
See! Normally when a DJ is creating a professional mix, you first need to do one thing. Sit down and pre-make a playlist.
But I did not do a playlist for one reason.I was not doing a professional music mix.I had mixed it as a personal way of connecting with God.It was a way of telling myself it shall be well.
The motive is why the mix has no promotional DJ drops.
8 months later as I write this, the mix is the most listened East Africa Mix on Youtube. It has also done extremely well on other channels.
Whats more important the mix has touched people from all over the world as proved by the youtube comments.
Also, another important thing.
I donno if you create content maybe for your blog or for marketing your business or yourself as a brand on social media.
See! As a content creator for websites and social media, the question I am constantly asking myself is what's the best content?
And from the morning gospel mix success, I have my answer.
The greatest content is genuine.
Long ago a legendary producer gave a rapper in the booth one advise,
"Spit it from the heart son "
