West African Project is a project created by Kuba Pogorzelski to introduce West African culture to Polish audience. Adama Kamissoko was the first musician invited by Kuba to Poland in 2006. Adama says that his first instrument is kamalen n`goni (n`goni of the young men) and that's what he plays most often. The repertoire of this 10-string n`goni includes a huge variety of Malian music. However, people who saw Adama play claim that it' s when he takes a donso ngoni (a hunter`s harp), the real power of art comes.... He performs powerfully great songs from traditional hunter`s repertoire. Adama plays and sings with a great feeling and excellent rhythmic precision.. His music is touching, full of passion and simply beautiful. Kuba Pogorzelski is a percussion player focused on West African music. He was the first Polish musician to go to Mali to study their music and culture. He is a founder and instructor of Strefa Rytmu (The Rhythym`s Zone) school of percussion in Warsaw, Poland. Adama came to Poland in may 2006 and that was the beginning of amazing musical journey ........(more on www.strefarytmu.pl). In 2010 Adama is coming to Poland again. (august/september).
